Picking Up & Hanging Up

Many phones, particularly "consumer" models, do not allow on-hook phone calls, and you'll have to raise the handset to use a headset. With others, you can leave the handset on the phone base while you use the headset.

The need to raise the handset depends on the design of the phone, not the headset or the amplifier/switchbox. Constantly picking up and hanging up your handset can be really annoying, so if your phone does not permit on-hook calls, use our inexpensive and handy Handset LifterUpper.

Many of our cordless headsets are sold with a remote handset lifter so you can start and end calls when you are far from your phone, just by tapping a button on your ear.

The design of the phone you are using may provide extra conveniences. With many Panasonic KX-T series "system" phones, for example, you will be automatically connected to incoming intercom calls, without touching any buttons; and this will work even if you are using a cordless headset far from your desk. These phones also allow headset operation with the handset on-hook. CLICK for info on Panasonic phone systems.
